PURPOSE OF DATA PROCESSING
Data processing is carried out based on legal requirements to fulfill the treatment contract between you and your veterinarian, along with the associated obligations.
We process data, particularly your pet’s health data, including medical history, diagnoses, treatment recommendations, and findings recorded by us or other veterinarians. Other veterinarians who have treated your pet may also provide us with data (e.g., in veterinary letters or medical reports).
Additionally, we aim to keep you informed about our services, including vaccination reminders, in writing.
The collection of the pet owner’s data and the pet’s health data is essential for treatment and other services provided by the practice. Without this information, proper treatment or consultation cannot take place.
RECIPIENTS OF YOUR DATA
We only share your personal data with third parties if permitted by law or if you have given consent.
Recipients of your pet’s health data and owner information may include:
• Other veterinarians
• Laboratories
• Veterinary chambers
• Pet health insurance providers
• Liability insurance providers for pet owners
• Veterinary billing services
The data transfer primarily serves billing purposes, medical inquiries, and other relevant matters. In specific cases, data may be shared with other authorized recipients.
STORAGE OF YOUR DATA
We retain your personal data only as long as necessary for the treatment process. Due to professional regulations, we are required to keep these records for at least five years after treatment concludes. Other legal provisions may require longer retention periods, such as ten years for tax-related documents according to the German Fiscal Code (AO).
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to request information about your personal data and your pet’s health data. You may also request corrections of incorrect data.
Additionally, under certain conditions, you have the right to:
• Request data deletion
• Restrict data processing
• Request data portability
Data processing is generally based on legal regulations. In exceptional cases requiring consent, you have the right to revoke your consent for future processing.
If you believe that the processing of your personal data is unlawful, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority.
The contact details of our responsible data protection authority are:
